VeinCare of NC is a private medical practice specializing in the treatment of problem veins. It was founded by Jane Smith, M.D. and Joy Shaker, RVT*, RDMS^† , in August of 2003. 

Both Dr. Smith and Ms. Shaker had worked for several years in the field of phlebology (study of vein problems). 

They met by chance several years ago when Joy worked on a temporary basis in Raleigh as Dr. Smith's Ultrasound Technologist.  Both were struck by their common backgrounds, their love for people, their passion for the treatment of vein disease, and their spirituality.  From that chance encounter, a deep friendship and a vision for vein care was born.  They are committed to providing the highest quality of care in the treatment of vein disorders.

Each member of the VeinCare team has extensive experience in this specialized field. Our team approach allows us to give you the attention you deserve and to individualize treatment to your needs.
